the game Gin has written much about Gin Rummy which is also called Gin in
short has written that the game Gin is 1st discovered in New York by
Elwood T. Baker in the early 20th century. And the game gained the
popularity around 1930’s. Its popularity was due to the reason of its
inexpensiveness and a great family entertainment. This game can be played
at anywhere and at homes also, only 2 players can also play this game and
also up 6-7 players can play the game at one time. So the game Gin Rummy
is very popular. Its popular versions are Oklahoma Gin, Hollywood Gin etc.
How many Players required playing the game Gin?
If this game is played as mentioned in the rule then only 2 players
should play the game at a time.
The 3 players also play the game but
usually 2 players play the game while 1 sits out. In a partnership game
more than 3 players play the game. The partnership game can be played by 8
payers but in such condition two games continues at the same time.
According to Gin Rummy Rules standard 52 card deck is used to play this
game. The cards are arranged in their respective ranks means from lowest
to highest manner and these are A-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-J-Q-K. In this A is
for Ace and it is lowest scorer card, K is or king and it is highest
scorer card, J is for jack and Q for queen.
The cards values are specified below:
Ace 1 point
Face cards (K,J,Q) 10 points
Number cards are value their face value.
NOTE: Generally in all card games an Ace is low scorer card and a King is
high scorer card which usually not changed. And all face cards are of 10
points worth.
Goal of the game
Throughout, playing the game the player’s main aim is to gain points by
accumulating 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit or 3 or 4 more
cards from the same rank. The game is played in many turns.
Game’s Setup
A dealer is selected to deal the first turn and generally winner of each
turn deals the cards in the next turn. The cards of the deck are shuffled
and if there are 2 players then 10 cards are dealt to each player. After
getting the cards, players sort their cards. The discard pile is created
by putting the cards face up in the centre of the table. And the draw pile
or the stock pile is created near to the discard pile.
How the Game is played?
The game is played in two rounds and these rounds are played like:
- A player at his turn, either discards a card, face up, from the top
of the discard pile or draws a card, face down, from the top of the
stock pile.
- Second, after drawing a card from the stock pile another card is
placed at the top of the discard pile by the same player.
Knocking
The knocking can be done at each round and it is done prior of discarding
but after drawing a card from the sock pile. One turn ends as soon as a
player knocks. If a player has formed a set of cards and the total points
are 10 lesser than this, then the player may knock.
NOTE: A single card can not be placed in two sets.
The player who knocks and discard the cards, face up, placed all of his
cards on the centre of the table.
The same can be done by that player also who has still not knocked. The
challenger player may lay off any unmatched cards by taking from the
knocker’s sets if the knocker has not Gone Gin.
Going Gin
A knocker is awarded 25 points if he has no matchless cards and it is
considered as “going Gin”. One additional benefit is that his challenger
would not get any points if he had no matchless cards. The round ends
after a draw if no player has knocked and after a player’s discard there
are only two cards are present in the discard pile and the deal is started
again by the same player.
Winning
If a player scores 100 points then he is declared the winner according to
the Gin Rummy Rules. So the 100 point scorer is the winner.

needs good skill and technical knowledge to win the game. This game is
